Lead-safety Message: Despite being the smartest chicken I’ve ever had, my Catriona found a screw in the yard and swallowed it and had to be treated for lead poisoning. To warn others, LEAD Group Kit comments on egg lead results reports are from now on going to include the warning: Lead head and leaded galvanised screws were common on old roofs and are often found in soil so be sure to run a fine rake over your backyard and remove all metal items found, before letting poultry use your chicken run and free range area.

Lead-safety Message: Although the noise pollution is obvious, it took me 30 years to find out that the piston-engine aircraft (PEAs) of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Aviation Academy were and still are contaminating my family and the whole Point Cook community with lead. If RMIT could switch their fleet to PEAs certified for non-leaded AvGas or better still, to quiet and non-fossil-fuelled electric planes, then together we can build a better future for all.

Lead-safety Message: Piston-engine aircraft (PEAs) of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Aviation Academy were supposed to fly seaward from Point Cook Airfield, but instead they fly over residents, making noise and dropping lead emissions on children, reducing their learning abilities. When RMIT was training Chinese pilots in a circuit, aircraft flew over our home every minute.

Lead-safety Message: In 2002, I received a fax from Canberra that clearly indicates pilots from RMIT Aviation Academy at Point Cook Airfield were instructed to fly away from the residential homes. When I sent it to the operational manager of the airfield, within 30 minutes the aircraft that were flying circuits over my property, decided to bombard me with aircraft flying over my home – flying north, south, east or west as if I was in a war zone. Until recently I didn’t know their piston-engine aircraft (PEAs) all use leaded AvGas.

The illusion of many hides the truth.
Through words and scripts they set the move.
Victims are chosen before it begins.
A silent border where nobody wins.
Like a chess game without any rules.
Power moves made behind closed rooms
Authorities hold the upper hand covering up the change with careful plans.
And why should truth be pushed away?
Why does illusion lead the day?
It’s the game they play
High stakes every day
Creating fires creating fear
Then acting like they weren’t here
Hiding the truth behind the stage
Turning the silence in to a cage
It’s the game they play
And the truth gets lost away.
Script writers lead with their pens in hand
Lines are drawn across the land,

The sound that is raw.
The sound is loud.
This tin can with wings
Pretending to be a bird
Be a bird flying in the sky.

Sounds different nothing to hide

Lead-safety Message: Both low lead living and living in Ikaria in Greece have been associated with healthy longevity or longer healthspan. The slow rhythm of the life here in the Greek “Blue Zones” longevity hotspot with its emphasis on fresh foods, a plant-based diet, walking (although that is gradually changing in modern times) and social connectivity (including the “Grandmother Effect”), have all contributed to the longevity of the Ikarians.

After 5 years of emailing the Smith boys about LEAD Group Kits, I finally got to meet them in their Sydney Analytical Laboratories this year. Lead-safety Message: I was really glad that I followed The LEAD Group’s advice and asked my GP for a blood lead series referral. Grandma Lead then told me that my first blood lead result, at 66 years of age, was already below The LEAD Group’s recommended action blood lead level of 1 microgram per decilitre so now I’m celebrating no more blood lead tests until next year!
