Volcano Art Prize (VAP) is an annual digital art competition for environmental art organised by The LEAD Group – an environmental health charity [ABN 25 819 463 114 ] – in which winning entrants will be awarded with cash prizes or mugs printed with their own image by our sponsor Pictureproducts.
Entries can be chosen to illustrate Lead-Safe World POSTERS to be sold to raise money for lead-awareness, and to be donated to individuals and organizations who have raised lead-awareness during the current year of the competition.
You can also choose your own image to be printed as a poster, with its lead safety message at https://www.leadsafeworld.com/product/leadsafeworld-poster/
We are also accepting video submissions, and various literature forms such as poems, plays, short stories, and case studies. Please let your friends and family know of this good news. A screenshot of the video can be included for the poster if your video submission wins. The video or literary entry should capture the suggested environmental themes on how to be lead-safe and prevent lead exposure, how to buy non-leaded consumer products, and lead safety in general and other themes in the suggestion link.
The Volcano Art Prize has a number of suggested lead-safety themes based around how to be lead-safe and prevent lead exposure, despite lead-containing artists materials, widespread lead contamination of old buildings, and our environment generally.
All artists must enter digital files, images or videos which address a lead-safety theme, including a theme / message created by the artist (children can get help with this part of their submission). The lead-safety theme is part of your entry so it is recommended that before you create your own lead-safety theme, or start working on your entry, you should read the suggested themes carefully and view the “VAP Archives”.
If you are new to the issue of lead poisoning prevention and lead-safety, or want more ideas, you can also read The LEAD Group’s extensive website at www.lead.org.au or our new website at www.leadsafeworld.com Young artists and their teachers can “Like” our Volcano Art Prize FACEBOOK fan page, in order to download some very useful tips on creating an image for this competition. Any one person can only “Like” an entry once, though you can “Like” more than one entry. The entry with the most “Likes” will win the People’s Choice cash prize.
