Lead-safety Message: “By banning the addition of lead compounds (including lead chromate) to marine and other paints in 2010, Australia is showing the world how to stop the addition of toxic lead and chromate paints to our oceans. Paint fragments and dust in the sea surface micro-layer, pose a threat to tiny creatures called zooplankton, which are an important part of the marine food web.”
